Our Story
HISTORY
The foundation for our business was put up by our beloved grandfather, Mr. K.T.Jeedreck in 1975. He was born and bred in the village of Metiwala, in the Galle district of Sri Lanka where Cinnamon was abundantly grown. Since early 1950’s, he was a farmer of Cinnamon. He started our business as a small trading company of Cinnamon and Cinnamon oils in 1975. Due to his work ethics, soon he became a very trusted and respected guy in the business community.

Why Ceylon Cinnamon?
Ceylon Cinnamon widely known as True Cinnamon comes from the plant indigenous to SriLanka, Cinnamomum zeylanicum. The name Ceylon Cinnamon is derived from the country’s former name and is an established geographical indication for Cinnamon. Ceylon Cinnamon is full of antioxidants, which lowers your risk of health conditions like cancer, heart disease and diabetes. Ceylon Cinnamon is also rich in the mineral manganese. This mineral helps your body manage the enzymes that produce hormones and help repair your bones.

The cheaper and the most widely available type of Cinnamon is Cassia which originates from China. Cassia cinnamon is so high in coumarin which is toxic to humans. Regular intake of Cassia in moderate doses is likely harmful. Even one teaspoon of Cassia contains coumarin above the Tolerable Daily Intake for Coumarin recommended by the European Food Safety Authority. The main reason why Ceylon Cinnamon is widely known as “True Cinnamon” is because it has essentially zero toxins.
